Over the previous decade, work on the mine has continued.
According to IDEX Online, the Tongo Diamond Mine, Sierra Leone’s newest diamond mine, will host its first ever auction later this month. Tender viewings will take place in Antwerp from May 16 to May 20, with the online sale beginning on May 20.
Tongo is an 8.3 million carat JORC compliant indicated and inferred diamond resource that is principally based on five kimberlites, according to its owner, Newfield Resources of Australia.
The mine has been under construction for over a decade, and “there are 1,229 meters of underground development” so far.
